There will be an Open Day at the Cammock Lane polytunnel on , as part of Settle's Open Gardens weekend. Come along to see our new composting facility and for refreshments in the polytunnel.
Marion Armstrong, Cultivating Settle's Chairperson, has been successful in gaining grant funding from Community Grassroots for a major composting activity. This will pay for us to purchase composting equipment, shredders, incinerators and to clear an area of the Cammock Lane allotments by the polytunnel, to site compost bins. Work is due to start later this month.
Tom Algie (one of our sponsors and gardeners) hit the national news over Christmas 2008 when he left his shop open on Boxing Day, with an honesty box and a note to customers to help themselves. Obviously this is not an experiment that would have worked anywhere, but shows the strength of community spirit in Settle. To read more, click on the links below:
